SA Tourism has contracted Primedia Unlimited subsidiary Mamba Media to communicate with South African consumers about its Sho’t Left and Welcome campaign.

Commencing in April and running until September 2010, all Daily Sun readers will get to see Vusi, Mamba Media’s principle cartoon character, take a Sho’t Left and explore SA.

The campaign, booked by Mindshare, is as a result of SA Tourism buying into Mamba Media’s Vusi. In essence, he is a good corporate citizen and will do well at encouraging South Africans to travel around their own country, before choosing an overseas holiday.

“SA has so much to offer. There’s really no need to go overseas on holiday and spend vast amounts of money before residents have explored their own country. Sho’t Left encourages citizens to take a break – go to Durban, Cape Town, Kruger Park, Mpumalanga or many other local destination,” says Antoinette Abrahams, Senior Account Manager at Mamba Media.

The national campaign kicks off with Sho’t Left in May, whilst June will focus on SA Tourism’s welcome campaign – greeting international tourists and welcoming them to SA for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

“This is the first time that SA Tourism is making use of Mamba Media’s engaging Vusi media platform. Its selection of the platform was based on the Daily Sun’s readership figures and target market,” says Abrahams.

“Using Vusi as an icon to relay important messages will see SA Tourism communicating with six million readers every week,” she adds.
