October is National Transport Month and ‘National Commute on Your Scoot Day’ was on 3rd October 2008. Aprilia Motorcycles commissioned ComutaNet to add to a nationwide motorcycle safety awareness drive with its Think Bike Coffee Stop Challenge.
To deliver the Think Bike message in the bustling streets of Johannesburg, where most needed, ComutaNet applied Think Bike full branding wrap creative to a 24-seater bus which operates during morning and afternoon peak traffic hours, six days a week. The branded bus was officially launched at Café Nescafe in Sunninghill, one of the many end destinations participating in the “Commute on Your Scoot” drive. While parked at Café Nescafe, the branded bus was admired by dozens of motorcyclists who turned out in support of the initiative and the many shoppers frequenting the centre.
Aprilia, one of Europe’s largest producers of motorcycles and scooters, headed locally by Andre van Rooyen, who comments “Aprilia’s marketing approach is unconventional and progressive – we are pleased to be associated with ComutaNet and the Think Bike campaign. It was initiated by biking enthusiasts in South Africa, and is run by bikers in the interests of road safety and public awareness. Too many motorcycle accidents happen because of a lack of awareness of the issues among the general motoring public.”
